EL SEÑOR DEL AMOR SANCTUARY

Back

Temple for religious worship

Located in Caranqui plaza, its Roman Greek construction style dates back to the year 1880. The sanctuary stands on the foundations of an ancient Incan Sun Temple. Inside the sanctuary, a replica of the ancient “Señor del Amor” rests on the great altar that was constructed in Baroque style and gilded with  salmonic columns of gold leaf. A famous depiction of hell, which gives a glimpse of the fate for people who don’t fulfil God’s commandments in life, is contained within the sanctuary as well. This picture caused a lot of controversy because the artist reproduced the faces of well known celebrities from that time.
