Temple for religious worship


The Cathedral is located on the corner of García Moreno and Sucre streets. This Roman style construction showing a facade of fine featured master stonework inspired by affection for the survivors of the earthquake of 1868. Inside, just in the centre of its three naves, it can be admire a collection of the twelve apostles painted by Rafael Troya. This temple has valuable artistic pieces from the Quiteña School such as carved wooden altarpieces covered by gold leaf. Finally, under the bigger central dome, is the Archangel’s allegorical effigy to patron saint San Miguel, the spiritual custodian of the city.
